Three classic Thin Lizzy albums are coming soon on SHM-CD. The Irish rock band’s first three albums—1971’s *Thin Lizzy*, 1972’s *Shades of a Blue Orphanage*, and 1973’s *Vagabonds of the Western World*—will be released in this popular Japanese format.
SHM-CD stands for “Super High Material.” These discs are the same size and weight as regular CDs, but they offer better sound quality. Instead of the usual polycarbonate, SHM-CDs are made from a special material used in LCD screens. This allows for more precise data etching, resulting in a clearer sound. The discs are produced in small batches to ensure high quality, making them perfect for enjoying Thin Lizzy’s early music.
Thin Lizzy, formed in 1969 in Dublin and led by Phil Lynott, blended folk, blues, and hard rock into a unique sound. Their tracks like “Look What the Wind Blew In,” “The Rocker,” and their iconic version of “Whiskey In The Jar” showcase their talent and swagger, especially with Eric Bell’s impressive guitar work.
These SHM-CDs will come in protective sleeves and include a lyrics booklet, along with Japan’s signature obi strip. It’s a great opportunity to add these classic albums to your collection or enjoy them in a fresh way.
