Olivia Rodrigo took the stage at Lollapalooza on Friday night, channeling her inner Mary Tyler Moore while performing alongside Weezer. During her set in Chicago, she asked the crowd if it was anyone’s first concert. She shared, “You always remember your first concert. It’s a very special moment. I remember mine; it was a memorable night.”
Olivia expressed her excitement, saying, “I watched this incredible band, and I am so over the moon because that incredible band is actually here tonight to play a few songs. Will you please say hello to Weezer!”
The crowd erupted as Weezer joined her on stage to perform “Buddy Holly,” which Olivia called one of her “favorite songs of all time,” along with “Say It Ain’t So.”
This collaboration marks the third major rock act Olivia has brought on stage at festivals this year. Earlier, she featured David Byrne from Talking Heads at Governors Ball in New York and Robert Smith from The Cure at Glastonbury in the U.K.
