Teyana Taylor is gearing up for her new album, *Escape Room*, set to drop on August 22. The R&B star has revealed an exciting tracklist featuring collaborations with Jill Scott, Tyla, Lucky Daye, and Kaytranada. Notably, her children, Rue Rose and Junie Shumpert, will appear on the album’s final track.
In addition to the music, Taylor showcases her acting skills with narrative interludes from a lineup of award-winning actors, including Taraji P. Henson, Sarah Paulson, and Issa Rae. The album’s announcement features a striking image of Taylor with her brain and body connected to wires, hinting at a cinematic experience.
The lead single, “Long Time,” marks Taylor’s first album in five years. She also released a trailer for a short film that accompanies the album, featuring Lakeith Stanfield and Aaron Pierre. Taylor wrote, directed, and produced the film with her all-female production company, the Aunties.
*Escape Room* follows her 2020 album, *The Album*, which was certified gold in June. During a recent appearance on *The Today Show*, Taylor received gold plaques for *The Album* and her 2018 project, *K.T.S.E.*, along with platinum plaques for some singles.
While taking a break from music, Taylor has been busy acting. She starred in *Coming 2 America* and appeared in *A Thousand and One*, *White Men Can’t Jump*, and *The Book of Clarence*. This year, she’s also in Tyler Perry’s *Straw* and Paul Thomas Anderson’s *One Battle After Another*, alongside big names like Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Affleck. Keep an eye out for more from Teyana Taylor!
