“Born to Run” isn’t just one of Bruce Springsteen’s best songs; it’s a standout in music history. An Instagram user, @Jev2DaMaximum, believes that every film ends better with this classic. Since June 3, he has been sharing clips of various movie endings with “Born to Run” added in, claiming that it enhances every film. His unique series has featured over 50 movies, ranging from classics to family favorites and even horror films.
This summer, these clips kept appearing in my Instagram feed, always catching my attention. They often made me laugh, thanks to their absurdity. Eventually, I reached out to @Jev2DaMaximum to ask him about his inspiration for this series. Here’s what he shared.
Q: What inspired this series?
A: The idea came from teasing my oldest daughter. I have four kids, and my 12-year-old is a big Springsteen fan. I took her to see him live last year. We often listen to Spotify in the car, and my music tastes are all over the place. Whenever “Born to Run” plays, my kids get excited and start singing along. I noticed how it sometimes followed songs that seemed totally different.
One day, my 4-year-old became obsessed with Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.” When “Born to Run” played right after it, the transition felt surprisingly good. I joked with my daughter that every song leads perfectly into “Born to Run.” I started playing it after random songs, and we both got hooked. Later, when she asked about my favorite movie, I mentioned Casablanca, and the idea of merging classic films with this song just clicked.
Interestingly, someone did a similar project with Dire Straits’ “Walk of Life” about ten years ago, but I didn’t know about it until after I started my series.
