Jack White has joined Bruce Springsteen in facing criticism from the Trump administration. While Springsteen was called a “jerk” and “highly overrated” by Trump, White House communications director Steven Cheung labeled White a “has-been loser” in a statement to the media.
Cheung’s comments came after White posted on Instagram, criticizing Trump’s lavish changes to the White House. White wrote, “Look at how disgusting Trump has transformed the historic White House. It’s now a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler’s dressing room.”
In response, Cheung said, “Jack White is a washed-up, has-been loser posting drivel on social media because he clearly has ample time on his hands due to his stalled career.” He added that White disrespects the significance of the Oval Office.
Despite the backlash, White has a history of speaking out against Trump. During the 2016 campaign, his label, Third Man Records, sold a T-shirt that read “Icky Trump,” a nod to his song “Icky Thump.”
As for his career, White has been busy touring in 2025 to promote his latest solo album, *No Name*, which features the hit single “That’s How I’m Feeling,” topping the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart. It seems White isn’t too worried about the White House’s criticism as he continues to make music and connect with fans.
