Deftones’ ‘Private Music’ Celebrated as a Late-Career Masterpiece, Highlighting Evolution and Emotional Depth

Deftones are set to release their tenth studio album, *Private Music*, on August 22 through Warner Records. This album marks 30 years since their debut, *Adrenaline*, was released. The band worked with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has a history with them, having produced *Diamond Eyes* and *Koi No Yokan*.

The current lineup includes guitarist Stephen Carpenter, drummer Abe Cunningham, keyboardist Frank Delgado, and bassist Fred Sablan, who joined after Sergio Vega left in 2021.

The first single from the album is titled “my mind is a mountain.” It combines powerful riffs with soft, atmospheric sounds. Another single, “Milk of the Madonna,” is also on the way. One standout track, “Souvenir,” runs for six minutes and showcases the band’s evolution. Paul Weedon noted that it features “thundering drums and rolling momentum,” reminiscent of *Koi No Yokan*’s “Tempest.”

Deftones recently sold out Madison Square Garden in April and delivered an impressive performance at Crystal Palace this year. *Private Music* is their first album since 2020’s *Ohms*, breaking a five-year gap.

Fans can now pre-order the album through Warner Records. Get ready for new music from Deftones!
