David Gilmour, the guitarist from Pink Floyd, is set to release a concert film and live album from his 2024 Luck and Strange Tour, titled The Luck and Strange Concerts. The film will be in theaters starting September 17, while the album will be available on October 17.
This release features 23 tracks from his recent tour, with a special focus on his shows at Rome’s Circus Maximus. Director Gavin Elder shared that a lot of planning went into the Rome shoot, aiming to create something truly special at this historic venue. The film will be shown in IMAX and theaters around the world, capturing one night from his six sold-out performances at the ancient site.
The concert film includes 22 songs, blending new tracks from Gilmour’s 2024 solo work with classic Pink Floyd hits. Fans can look forward to favorites like “Wish You Were Here” and “Comfortably Numb.” Gilmour’s daughter, Romany, will also join him for the song “Between Two Points.”
The Luck and Strange album has already topped the charts in eight countries, including the UK, Germany, and Austria. The film showcases stunning visuals of Roman ruins and combines live music with rare backstage moments from the tour.
You can choose to get the album as a four-LP set or two CDs. The deluxe box includes a 120-page book featuring tour photos by Polly Samson, Gilmour’s wife. Plus, the Blu-ray or DVD will have bonus content like rehearsals, documentaries, and music videos. Sound options include Dolby Atmos for an enhanced listening experience.
