Celebrating National Dog Day with Love, Light and a Wagging Tail

As a proud cat dad to my boys Hazzard and Zero, and someone who cherishes memories of my childhood dog Lucky, National Dog Day (August 26th) is special to me. Lucky was more than just a pet; he was my first best friend. He waited by the door, followed me around, and comforted me on tough days. His loyalty and goofy energy shaped my love for animals.

National Dog Day is not just about sharing cute photos (though you should!). It’s a celebration of the bond between humans and dogs, built on trust and joy. Whether you have a playful puppy or a wise old dog, today is the day to give them extra belly rubs, treats, and love.

Even if you’re more of a cat person like me, you can’t ignore the magic dogs bring into our lives. They teach us to enjoy the moment, greet each day with excitement, and always be ready for a walk or a cuddle.

Let’s honor our furry friends, past and present, by spreading kindness, adopting when we can, and treating all animals with love and respect. Lucky may be gone, but he’s never forgotten. Every wagging tail reminds me of that love.

Happy National Dog Day, everyone! Let’s celebrate with paws, purrs, and pure joy.
