Jerry Cantrell Embarks on Solo Tour, Teases Alice in Chains’ Comeback in 2026

Alice in Chains might be back in action by 2026. The band had to stop performing when drummer Sean Kinney fell ill. Singer and guitarist Jerry Cantrell mentioned, “We’ll take a look at it again probably early next year and figure out what we’re gonna do, whether to make another record or do some shows — or both.”

Kinney’s health issues began in May, which led to the cancellation of their spring 2025 tour. This meant missing out on major events like MMRBQ in Camden, Sonic Temple in Columbus, and Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach. In 2025, the band only played once. They performed at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning show in July, paying tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. This performance was especially meaningful as it was Ozzy’s last time on stage before his passing. Cantrell reflected, “It’s one of the greatest bands of all time, and to have been able to do that — now, especially, in light of Ozzy passing — it’s just kind of a magical thing.”

Fans admire Alice in Chains for their resilience and appreciate Cantrell’s solo work as they look forward to the band’s next chapter. While his bandmates take time to recover, Cantrell is busy touring North America to promote his album, I Want Blood. Sparta is opening for him until his final show in Kansas City on September 14, and tickets for many shows are still available.

The last new music from Alice in Chains was 2018’s Rainier Fog. The band hasn’t shared much about Kinney’s condition, but Cantrell has hinted that the drummer is on the mend. Fans are hopeful for what’s next!
