Trivium and Avatar Rattle Franklin Music Hall

Last weekend Trivium brought there highly successful The Sin and The Sentence World tour through one of Philly’s oldest and one of the grittiest venues,  the Franklin Music Hall (formerly known as North Seventh formerly know as the Electric Factory)  Supporting Trivium were Swedish rockers AVATAR and Light the Torch.

First up and lighting a fire under the asses of the Philly crowd was Light the Torch, lead by former Killswitch Engage lead singer, Howard Jones.  Jones proved that he hasn’t lost a step when it comes to fronting a heavy metal band.  He was non stop pacing back and forth across the stage all while interacting with the growing crowd.

Next up was AVATAR who put on one of the best performances in rock/metal music today.  Their carnival like atmosphere and creepy makeup make it so you don’t want to look away.   It was about halfway through their set when the crowd surfing started to pick up.  Fans were  treated to a short but powerful and entertaining 8 song set.

Trivium finished the night with a punishing 16 song set that had ever fan on the floor jumping and moshing for almost 2 hours.  There were many circle pits and wave upon wave of crowd surfers which test the endurance of security.  Lead singer Matt Heafy was showing everyone his “war face” and sticking out his tongue when he wasn’t belting out the lyrics.

This was a great night for metal music in one of the most iconic venues in Philadelphia.  If you missed it, the tour continues for another couples weeks, ending on November 3 in Berkeley, CA.
