Deep Purple Announces New Album Release Planned for 2026, Declines Final Tour

Roger Glover, the bassist of Deep Purple, recently shared exciting news in an interview: the band plans to release new music in 2026. They will also continue their Long Goodbye tour, which began in 2017. Glover mentioned, “We’ve been writing and stuff, and there’ll probably be an album next year.” This upcoming release will be their 24th studio album, following “=1,” which came out in 2024.

When asked about a final show, Glover was clear. “To actually put a date on the final show, now where’s it gonna be? The pressure is too great. I’d much rather just play and play and play, and suddenly we’re not playing,” he said.

This year, the band has a lighter schedule. Glover noted, “This year is quiet. We did one show in Brazil — a festival in June — with just a couple more set for year’s end. We’re taking time to rest.” Despite their age, the band’s passion for music remains strong. Glover acknowledged, “Sure, we feel some aches. But when we hit the stage or studio, we still bring the fire.” Drummer Ian Paice turned 80 this year, with his own birthday coming later.

Glover also talked about their creative process. “That’s what we do, isn’t it? We write music. We push for new ways to rock hard. It just happens naturally — we can’t explain how,” he said.

In addition to the band’s work, Glover is writing his memoir. “I’m working on my book right now, writing about my life, and the more I write, the more I realize what an amazing journey that we’ve been on,” he reflected. Fans can look forward to both new music and Glover’s personal stories in the near future!
