In a career filled with surprises, Mike Patton has taken another bold step with his new project. The Faith No More frontman has teamed up with the folk band The Avett Brothers to form a new band called AVTT/PTTN.
The Avett Brothers, led by brothers Scott and Seth Avett, have a different sound compared to Patton’s other projects like Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, and Tomahawk. However, Scott Avett says Patton is “part of our DNA, like the fabric of our youth.” Seth adds, “We literally studied him. He’s a dear friend now, but when we were younger, I was imitating him.”
Patton describes his role in the project as becoming a “long distant cousin” to the band. He jokingly says he feels like a brother who was “orphaned” and kept away for years.
The self-titled debut album from AVTT/PTTN will be released on November 14. Fans can check out the first single, “Eternal Love,” which is available to listen to now.
