Nine Inch Nails Releases First Album in Five Years with ‘Tron: Ares’ Soundtrack

Nine Inch Nails (NIN) has released their first new work since 2020: a full soundtrack for the sci-fi film *Tron: Ares*. This is their debut movie score under the NIN name, blending raw tracks with haunting instrumentals. The music combines harsh industrial sounds with sleek electronic beats, perfectly matching the film’s futuristic vibe while also evoking a sense of nostalgia.

The album kicks off with pulsing, dark electronica in tracks like “Init” and “Forked Reality,” leading up to the first vocal piece. “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” showcases classic NIN, featuring a heavy electronic sound and an angsty chorus that cries out for something to believe in. Trent Reznor’s powerful voice shines on four tracks, especially in “I Know You Can Feel It,” where his vocals cut through waves of static and beats. In “Who Wants To Live Forever?” he teams up with Spanish artist Judeline for an intense duet.

Dark instrumental pieces weave throughout the album, with “Still Remains” building tension through sharp beats. Tracks like “This Changes Everything,” “Infiltrator,” and “A Question of Trust” pulse with machine-like precision. While Reznor and his bandmate Atticus Ross have scored films like *Challengers* and *Soul*, this is their first full soundtrack as Nine Inch Nails.

This album takes a different approach than Daft Punk’s all-electronic score for *Tron: Legacy* in 2010. NIN mixes raw vocals with stark instrumentals, creating a fresh take on the *Tron* sound. In the film, an AI named Ares breaks free. Fans can stream the soundtrack now, and the movie hits theaters on October 10, with a Disney+ release to follow, along with previous *Tron* films.
