Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire’s classic 1942 album, *Holiday Inn*, is getting a reissue on beautiful blue swirl vinyl. This album features some of Irving Berlin’s most famous songs, including the must-have tracks “White Christmas” and “Happy Holiday.” Officially titled *Song Hits from the Paramount Picture Holiday Inn*, both the film and its soundtrack were huge hits when they came out.
Interestingly, Berlin initially thought another song, “Be Careful, It’s My Heart,” would be the big hit. He even promoted it as such. But “White Christmas” ended up changing everything for Bing Crosby. Its popularity soared, especially after it was played on Armed Forces Radio during World War II. Crosby performed it for soldiers overseas, and it resonated deeply with them. He recalled how the song made them emotional, especially during the holidays when many were far from home.
Years later, Crosby recorded a new version of “White Christmas” for the 1954 film of the same name.
This vinyl reissue isn’t the only way to enjoy “White Christmas” this holiday season. UMe is also releasing a special snow white-colored 7” single of the song on October 31.
