Butcher Babies have officially announced their upcoming studio album, NIGHTBLOOM, set to drop on October 2 via Judge & Jury Records. Alongside the reveal, the group debuted the official music video for their latest single, "Blame It on the Wind."

Produced by Howard Benson alongside co-producers Joe Rickard, Neil Sanderson, and guitarist Henry Flury, the album captures frontwoman Heidi Shepherd channeling deeply vulnerable personal experiences, trauma, and survival into the band's most focused material to date.

"This new album isn't about the suffering, it's about the survival," Shepherd shared. "These songs were born from memories of heartbreak, uncertainty, betrayal, and pain. But they're not just about those subjects, they're more about what grew because of them. This album, 'NIGHTBLOOM', is a reminder that not everything beautiful needs perfect sunshine to flourish. Sometimes the most meaningful parts of life begin in the darkest seasons."

Butcher Babies will take the new music on the road across the U.S. this late summer and fall on a nationwide run alongside Chad Gray, including a festival appearance at Louder Than Life.

Have you checked out the video for "Blame It on the Wind" yet? What do you think of the new direction for Butcher Babies?

Ghost have released a full-song live performance of "Umbra" as an advance preview of their upcoming feature film, 2 Big To Rig.

Teaming up once again with Trafalgar Releasing, the project was captured entirely on 16mm film during the band's sold-out performances in Mexico City before nearly 40,000 fans. Unlike 2024's narrative-driven Rite Here Rite Now, the new release focuses purely on the live ritual and behind-the-scenes production, serving as the definitive pro-shot document of frontman Papa V Perpetua and the Nameless Ghouls across their phone-free "Skeletour."

"GHOST captured the final nights of the legendary 'Skeletour''s first leg on 16mm film in Mexico City — creating a nostalgic experience and a fitting farewell to an era for fans," shared Kymberli Frueh of Trafalgar Releasing. "We're proud to share it with cinema audiences worldwide before GHOST takes a well-publicized break."

2 Big To Rig hits standard cinemas and IMAX screens globally for a limited engagement starting Wednesday, August 26.

Jack White has fired back after country artist Charley Crockett called him out online, accusing the rock frontman of using the Twin Temple tour controversy to sell tickets and questioning his past political outspokenness.

After Crockett stated in a since-deleted post that he "lost a lot of respect" for White for adding the Satanic doo-wop duo to his upcoming Hollywood Palladium show, White responded directly on Instagram.

"I never said nothing about this young buck before but since he’s trying to drag me into this here rodeo again, here’s my official response to Cowboy Charley’s accusations," White wrote.

White then shared the lyrics to Shawn Brown’s 1984 hip-hop novelty song, "Rappin' Duke":

"Dah-ha, dah-ha / You think you're bad, huh? / Two-steppin' in your boots and your Stetson hat / Well, let me tell you something, buckaroo / I'm the real McCoy and you're just dog doo."

Crockett previously claimed his decision to cut Twin Temple from tour dates was based on stage setup constraints and audience vibe rather than Satanic imagery, while White maintained he has no issue supporting the duo, writing to a fan that he is not "scared of satan or any bullshit imagery man made up to live in fear of."

What do you make of Jack White's response to the feud?

Maynard James Keenan is expanding his cultural and culinary footprint in Northern Arizona with the grand opening of Queen B Sushi on September 4 in Old Town Cottonwood.

Located alongside Queen B Vinyl Café, the new restaurant reflects Keenan's 25-year passion for sushi, which deepened during A Perfect Circle's first Japanese tour in 2000.

"Although I've been enjoying sushi since my days in Boston, circa 1987, my first Japanese tour wasn't until 2000 with A Perfect Circle," Keenan shared. "It was an eye opening and mind-blowing experience... Twenty-five years I've been carrying these chopsticks. That's how much I love sushi."

Led by Culinary Director Chef Brett Vibber alongside chefs Chuhiro "Thomas" Kato (who trained under Nobu Matsuhisa and Masaharu Morimoto) and Sheridan Chase, the dining spot will feature high-end sushi paired with a rotating selection of Keenan's Caduceus Cellars and Merkin Vineyards wines.

Derran "Derry" Brownson, founding keyboardist for the British alternative rock group EMF, has passed away at the age of 55.

Best known for their massive 1990 global smash "Unbelievable," the band shared the news in an emotional tribute honoring their longtime bandmate and friend:

"Late last night, we started to hear the news that we have lost our Brother in Arms Derran Brownson," the band shared. "We are devastated. The only solace we can find is that we are eternally grateful Derry was able to join us onstage a couple times just a few short months back. Nothing will ever be the same again without our bandmate and friend. Fly high, brother Derry.

"While an official cause of death was not disclosed, Brownson previously revealed to BBC News that he had undergone surgery after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.

The official category and nominee list for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards has been revealed, and in a major shift for the broadcast, there is no longer a dedicated category for rock music.

First introduced in 1989, the "Best Rock" award had been a staple of the VMAs for nearly 40 years, honoring iconic genre heavyweights including Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Metallica, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Pearl Jam, and Linkin Park.

While the "Best Alternative" category remains on the ballot for 2026, the absence of a standalone rock award leaves heavy and hard rock completely off the ceremony's official slate.

2026 Best Alternative Nominees:

Geese – "Taxes"
mgk & Fred Durst – "FIX UR FACE"
Noah Kahan – "The Great Divide"
Olivia Rodrigo – "the cure"
SOMBR – "Homewrecker"
Tame Impala – "Dracula"
twenty one pilots – "Drag Path"

Frank Beard, the iconic drummer for ZZ Top for over five decades, has passed away at the age of 77. Beard died on August 17 while in hospice care at his ranch in Richmond, Texas, surrounded by his family.

Joining ZZ Top alongside late bassist Dusty Hill in 1970, Beard served as the rhythmic anchor across every single studio album in the band's catalog, powering signature hits with his unmistakable groove and backbeat. Ironically celebrated as the only member of the trio without a full beard, he helped define the sound of Texas boogie-rock for more than half a century.

Guitarist and frontman Billy Gibbons honored his lifelong bandmate in an emotional statement:

"Today, Elwood and I lost a great friend and collaborator, and the world lost one of the most naturally innovative drummers and a great and true son of Texas. His signature backbeat was key to keeping ZZ on top. The band of which he was part for six decades is going to keep on keeping on as he had wished."

Following canceled shows in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs, ZZ Top will resume their "The Big One!" tour on August 22 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater in Austin, Texas, honoring Beard's legacy in one of his favorite cities.

Rest in peace, Frank Beard.

After being dropped by Jive in 1990 and spending years grinding on the Detroit indie scene, Kid Rock struck mainstream gold with the release of his breakthrough major-label album, Devil Without a Cause, via Lava/Atlantic Records.

Signed to Lava in 1997—a celebration that famously landed him in jail, where he penned "Only God Knows Why"—Kid Rock arrived just as the nu-metal explosion hit full force. Powered by the relentless rotation of smash hits like "Bawitdaba" and "Cowboy" on radio and MTV, the record quickly skyrocketed.

From a career-defining set at Woodstock '99 to high-profile appearances on Saturday Night Live and the Grammy Awards, the album went on to sell over 11 million copies in the United States alone—blowing well past his own lyric claiming he was "going Platinum."

British rock powerhouse Royal Blood has officially announced their fifth studio album, Dead Company, set to arrive on November 13 via Warner Records. Alongside the news, the duo unleashed their driving new lead single, "Ten Over Ten."

Marking their first batch of new music since 2023's Back to the Water Below, Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher self-produced the 10-track collection after taking two years away from the spotlight to recharge. The energetic lead single draws inspiration from Kerr's marathon training, capturing raw endurance and high-octane riffing built specifically for the stage.

"After putting the Royal Blood engine in neutral for a couple of years, we've been building up the revs and are playing faster and harder than ever with this album," the band shared. "Written and recorded with the stage in mind, we cannot wait to play it live for years to come."

Royal Blood will make their return to the stage later this month with a trio of sold-out underplay shows in Margate, Guildford, and Southampton.

Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee is looking back on the massive impact of "End of You," celebrating the historic chart run of the collaborative track featuring Poppy and Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox.

Originally sparked by an idea from producer Jordan Fish and Poppy, the powerhouse anthem made history by becoming the first song led by three women to claim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart since 1981.

"Everyone added their own spice and it turned into a song that blew up," Lee shared. "Women are kinda ruling heavy music right now."

Having just wrapped up a major U.S. run supporting Evanescence's album Sanctuary alongside Spiritbox, the band heads across the pond this September for a U.K. and European tour with Poppy—with Lee promising more live performances and collaborations on the horizon.

"If this looks like it could be something more, I might create some new music," Gray explained. "I might write some new music, just solo stuff."

While Gray made it clear that he remains fully committed to Mudvayne, the band collectively agreed to take 2026 off from touring, leaving Gray free to perform Hellyeah material live again alongside his backing band.

After weeks of conflicting reports, Sid Wilson has subtly confirmed his departure from Slipknot.

Rather than releasing a formal statement, the longtime turntablist updated his official Instagram bio to reflect his tenure with the masked metal outfit, adding: "@slipknot 1997–2026."

The quiet acknowledgment follows Slipknot's brief, since-deleted post on August 14 announcing they were no longer associated with Wilson, as well as weeks of speculation stemming from initial reports in late July. A pivotal member since the late 1990s, Wilson was renowned for his chaotic stage energy and stood as one of the core nine members of the band's classic era.

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root is speaking out to clarify his initial remarks after the band briefly posted—and deleted—an official confirmation parting ways with longtime turntablist Sid Wilson.

When reports first broke in late July, Root urged the metal community to exercise caution, writing on social media: "Don’t believe every thing you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information."

However, following the band's official announcement on August 14, Root addressed the confusion, explaining that internal uncertainty left him unsure of the situation when he originally posted.

"You couldn’t even believe what I wrote. At the time I wrote it… I didn’t know what to believe," Root admitted. "I stand by it though. I still don’t think anyone should believe everything that they read. Time will tell. As it did for my post that didn’t age well."

The unfolding developments highlight the complex internal dynamic within the Nine as the group moves forward after nearly three decades with Wilson behind the turntables.

A Killer's Confession, the alternative metal group fronted by former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, has released a fresh take on The Weeknd's global megahit "Blinding Lights."

Stepping back from their usual heavy sound, the band delivers a stripped-down, melodic rendition centered on Reavis's vocals. Following the strong fan response to their previous cover of Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box," Reavis decided to explore a completely different genre to close out the narrative arc of their upcoming music.

"This time I wanted to do something in a different genre and go a completely different route," Reavis explained. "I always enjoy the song 'Blinding Lights'; [there's] just something catchy and haunting about it. I feel like it could be the perfect song to be stuck in our character's head for the last time ever as we end this trilogy."

The standalone cover arrives as the band prepares to release their sixth studio album, Victim 3, via MNRK Heavy and launch their headlining "Everything Comes Full Circle Tour" this fall alongside Dizasterpiece and Dead Things.

The Violent Hour, the heavy rock project formed by former Butcher Babies vocalist Carla Harvey and Anthrax/Pantera drummer Charlie Benante, has officially released their brand-new single, "Screenager."

Featuring a blistering guest guitar solo by Attila Vörös, the track channels the aggression of early Metallica while delivering soaring melodic choruses. Lyrically, "Screenager" takes a direct look at the erosion of authentic human connection and empathy in an era dominated by screens and social validation.

"'Screenager' is about how we've traded genuine human connection for digital validation, and how anonymity has fueled a growing lack of empathy by making cruelty feel consequence-free," Harvey shared. "We're more connected than ever, yet somehow we've never felt further apart."

The band will bring their new material to several major U.S. festival stages this fall, including appearances at Rocklahoma, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock.

Kelly Osbourne has publicly fired back at Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider after he questioned her father Ozzy Osbourne's lyric-writing contributions and suggested Sharon Osbourne "doesn't like to share" songwriting credit.

The exchange began on X (formerly Twitter) when Snider replied to fan questions regarding historical writing credits across Black Sabbath and Ozzy's solo career, asserting that bassists Geezer Butler and Bob Daisley—along with Lemmy Kilmister—wrote the lyrics.

Kelly responded via Instagram Stories, calling Snider's remarks "spectacularly classless" and defending her late father's enduring legacy across six decades of heavy metal history.

"My father's legacy as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader speaks for itself," Kelly wrote. "There's something spectacularly classless about Dee Snider trying to diminish my father Ozzy Osbourne and his extraordinary abilities and achievements when he's no longer here to challenge his allegations... Trying to make my father smaller won't make Dee Snider bigger."

Multi-Platinum rock outfit Skillet has announced their upcoming independent EP, After the Storm, arriving October 9. Alongside the announcement, the band debuted their brand-new single and anime-inspired lyric video for "Lift Me Up."

Produced by David Cowell (Sleep Theory) and the band’s own Korey Cooper, the six-song collection marks a return to Skillet's heavier roots while delivering deeply personal, vulnerable songwriting from frontman John Cooper. The new track follows the success of lead single "Scream," which has already racked up over five million global streams.

"'After the Storm' is special to me because it reignites what Skillet was always meant to be—which is music that helps lift people out of dark times," says John Cooper. "I wrote these songs because I needed to be lifted out of my own darkness... When life feels overwhelming, there is still hope."

Skillet will hit the road this October for a nationwide Live Nation U.S. headline tour to support the new EP following a massive record-breaking European run earlier this year.

CKY has released a brand-new track titled "Beware Of The Heartless," honoring their late friend and former Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds.

The song features a guest guitar solo recorded by Hinds prior to his passing in a motorcycle accident in August 2025. This marks the second time Hinds contributed guitar work to a CKY track, following his appearance on 2017's "Days of Self Destruction." CKY and Hinds' band Fiend Without A Face had originally planned to tour the UK and Ireland together last fall.

CKY frontman Chad I Ginsburg explained the decision to release the track to mark the one-year mark of Hinds' passing:

"Brent played a solo on a song we recorded called 'Beware of the Heartless' and I thought, 'why would I leave this on my computer?' Brent took the time to play on it and we loved him, and in honor of his passing, we were too bummed out in the moment to think about that shit, but I want to throw it out there because I don’t want to hold onto it forever. I want to let go of it and give it to everyone."

Progressive metal outfit Mastodon has released the official animated music video for "In The Ruins," the latest single from their upcoming ninth studio album, Marrow Deep, arriving August 28 via Loma Vista Recordings.

The track was heavily inspired by the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, which severely flooded the home of bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders and displaced his family for nearly two years. That disaster coincided with a period of intense grief for the group following the passings of former guitarist Brent Hinds and drummer Brann Dailor's mother, Michele Lawrence. Paired with a fever-dream visual created by Hey Beautiful Jerk, the song turns overwhelming personal upheaval into a powerful declaration of resilience.

"It's another deep one, but ultimately it's us channeling the loss into a powerful declaration of resilience and catharsis," the band shared. "We are lucky we have each other, and we are lucky we have you, our fans!"

Marrow Deep marks the band's first full-length effort featuring new guitarist Nick Johnston alongside contributions from keyboardist João Nogueira. Mastodon will hit the road this September for "The Poisonous Weapons Tour" alongside Deafheaven and Alcest.

Are you ready for the new era of Mastodon when Marrow Deep drops later this month?

Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho recently reflected on the legacy of the band's 2017 breakout hit "Judas," calling it a rare achievement that every rock fan recognizes.

Speaking with Delaware radio station 93.5 The Beach, Jericho recalled fighting for "Judas" to be the album's lead single when the record label was leaning toward "Painless." The gamble paid off: the track reached the Top 5 on the U.S. rock chart, earned RIAA gold certification, and has accumulated roughly 90 million YouTube views. Jericho noted that having a universally recognized signature track is something every band hopes to achieve, comparing its impact to classics like Metallica's "Enter Sandman," AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long," and Foo Fighters' "My Hero."

"When you get your songs into the mainstream, that's when you know you've got something special," Jericho shared. "Do you know how many bands would wish for one song like that, that everybody in the business knows, and all the fans of that type of music know? It's a very rare thing, and we've got it. So we're very proud of that fact."

Jericho also highlighted Fozzy's latest single, "I Know Evil," which is set to be featured in the upcoming film Dead Of Night.

Mudvayne and Hellyeah frontman Chad Gray is stepping out on his first-ever full solo tour with his "30 Years of Madness" trek, but he admits he's anxious to see how the crowds turn out across the country.

Speaking with The Logan Show, Gray revealed that the decision to launch a solo project came after Mudvayne decided to take 2026 off from touring. Unwilling to sit around for a year, Gray assembled an all-star backing band to perform a career-spanning setlist featuring hits from both Mudvayne and Hellyeah. While early dates saw strong ticket sales, the singer called the upcoming full run the ultimate proving ground.

"I'm doing a full tour, this is kind of the big test. Like, do people really wanna see this?" Gray shared. "Yes, it's not MUDVAYNE. Yes, it's not HELLYEAH. But it's me. I'm the voice of both of those bands and with an incredible backing band. So if you like these songs, you're gonna get these songs."

Support for the upcoming "30 Years of Madness" tour will feature Butcher Babies and Devil's Cut.

Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes and Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante have joined forces for a massive new crossover single, "If The Sun Burns Out Tonight."

Written and produced by electronic producer Grabbitz in partnership with Riot Games, the heavy-meets-electronic track serves as the official theme for the upcoming Valorant Champions event taking place in Shanghai from September 24 to October 18. The collaboration marks the first official studio track featuring both vocalists after years of sharing festival stages.

"Oli, Courtney and I came together from different corners of the globe, and landed on a track that sits effortlessly between my electronic world and the heavy landscapes of Bring Me The Horizon and Spiritbox," Grabbitz shared. "The three of us just clicked — and the result is what I believe to be the best Valorant anthem to date."

Sykes and LaPlante both expressed excitement over the gaming-meets-metal mashup, with LaPlante noting that Grabbitz tailored the atmospheric anthem specifically to fit all three of their vocal dynamics.

Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson has sparked new discussion among fans after dropping a subtle line about the band during a recent YouTube livestream.

His comments follow recent reports that Wilson had been fired from the heavy metal outfit after nearly three decades due to long-standing internal frustrations. Closing out The World Scratch Invitational, Wilson addressed the audience directly:

“I’m Sid, DJ Starscream Number Zero from the world famous Slipknot,” Wilson said. “And this is The World Scratch Invitational. See you at the next one.”

While Slipknot has yet to issue an official statement regarding Wilson's status, guitarist Jim Root previously posted a cryptic note telling fans not to "believe everything you read." For now, fans are left reading between the lines as both sides remain officially silent on the matter.

From powering through stadium speakers and TV screens like The Office and The Simpsons to defining generations of heavy music, "Crazy Train" remains as unstoppable today as it was over four decades ago.

Avatar frontman Johannes Eckerström is reflecting on a dream summer after heavy metal titans Metallica publicly praised the Swedish metal outfit for raising the bar while supporting their 2026 "M72" European tour.

Speaking with The Rockpit, Eckerström admitted that while confidence has to come from within, getting stamp-of-approval nods from childhood heroes feels surreal. He revealed that Metallica singer James Hetfield personally watched their set night after night. In fact, Eckerström noted there wouldn't even be an Avatar without Metallica, tracing the band's origin back to drummer John Alfredsson being gifted Load and Reload while recovering from a broken leg at age 12.

"It's a total bizarre childhood dream version of success," Eckerström shared. "It feels like... somewhere hidden inside of us is whoever we were in the past... and there's some guys in their early teens who had an amazing summer now with METALLICA."

How cool is it to see modern metal acts earn genuine respect from classic legends?

Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Jeff Gutt recently opened up about the band's current status, revealing that while he believes new music is in the works, he would be completely satisfied even if the band focused solely on their iconic catalog moving forward.

Speaking with Rocking With Jam Man, Gutt reflected on setlist choices and noted that playing classic hits often takes priority over newer material—a choice he sometimes prefers live to preserve his vocal range. He pointed out how shifting music consumption habits on streaming platforms have changed how audiences connect with new releases compared to classic eras.

"STP songs are STP songs, you know what I mean?" Gutt shared. "To me, it's not about my glory or my fame or whatever it is. To me, it's just about the music and the songs that connect and the songs that people love."

While STP doesn't have a rigid studio deadline booked, Gutt noted that new music usually happens organically for the group. Meanwhile, the singer stays busy with his own songwriting endeavors, including a project named We Are Not Machines alongside Evanescence drummer Will Hunt.

Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor recently opened up on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk regarding the band's upcoming ninth studio album, Marrow Deep, revealing that none of late former guitarist Brent Hinds' musical ideas appear on the record.

Speaking on the creative process behind the release, Dailor explained that while the group always left the door open for Hinds to contribute during writing sessions, he was mostly absent while dealing with personal challenges and pursuing other interests. As a result, the skeleton of the new record was forged entirely by the remaining core trio—Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Troy Sanders—before bringing in new members João Nogueira and guitarist Nick Johnston to help refine the tracks.

"We don’t have any material from him that is on the new record," Dailor shared. "So it’s solely the three of us kind of creating everything from the ground up, and then getting the new members involved towards the end to sort of, quote-unquote, ‘punch up’ the songs."

Arriving August 28 via Loma Vista Recordings, Marrow Deep marks the band's first full-length album following Hinds' departure and subsequent passing. The emotional release is dedicated to the memory of both Hinds and Dailor's mother, Michele J. Lawrence.

Will you be picking up Marrow Deep when it drops later this month?

ZZ Top's longtime drummer Frank Beard is dealing with health issues that recently forced the cancellation of the band's scheduled performance at the Hollywood Bowl.

A representative for the iconic Texas rock group confirmed to Rolling Stone that while Beard takes time away, frontman Billy Gibbons and bassist Elwood Francis will continue touring with drummer Michael Monahan filling in behind the kit. The brief tour interruption comes after Beard previously stepped back for health reasons in recent years, with tech member John Douglas previously stepping up to cover dates.

Beard, who famously remains the only member of ZZ Top without a full signature beard, has been the rhythmic anchor of the band for over 55 years, playing on every single studio album since their 1971 debut.

"Insurmountable obstacles require canceling our Hollywood Bowl performance," Gibbons shared in a statement. "Friends, fans and followers of ZZ TOP are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption."

Sending speediest wishes and a full recovery to Frank Beard!
