This Day in Top 40 History: November 10

On November 10, 2014, Mark Ronson dropped “Uptown Funk!” featuring Bruno Mars as the lead single from his 2015 album, Uptown Special. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks and won two GRAMMYs, making it Ronson’s biggest hit. This day also marks the birthday of Miranda Lambert, born in 1983 in Longview, Texas. She has several Top 40 hits, including “The House That Built Me,” “Mama’s Broken Heart,” and “Bluebird.”

Looking back at other notable moments on November 10, we see some major album releases. In 2017, Taylor Swift released her sixth studio album, reputation. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over a million copies in its first week. Four songs from the album, like “Look What You Made Me Do” and “Delicate,” made it to the Top 40. In 2023, The Kid LAROI launched his debut album, The First Time, which peaked at No. 24 and featured the Top 40 single “Love Again.”

The day also has its share of cultural milestones. In 1967, The Beatles filmed promotional clips for “Hello, Goodbye” at London’s Saville Theatre. The song later topped the charts in the U.S., UK, and Canada. In 2010, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert made history at the Country Music Association Awards by both winning vocalist awards in the same year.

However, November 10 has seen its challenges too. In 2006, Gerald Levert passed away at 40 due to a medication mix-up. He was known for hits like “Baby Hold On to Me.” In 2018, Joe Perry of Aerosmith collapsed after a show with Billy Joel but recovered and returned to performing.
