Jack White Urges Induction of 27 Artists in Rock Hall Acceptance Speech

Jack White used his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame acceptance speech to push for the induction of 27 other acts. He highlighted bands like Death, The Misfits, Fugazi, Black Flag, and Minor Threat. His list included punk legends, death metal pioneers, and artists from various genres. White also mentioned The Cramps, The Damned, and Sleater-Kinney, along with Beck, Pavement, and The Strokes.

White didn’t forget to shout out some Detroit bands, naming The Gories, The Hentchmen, and The Rats. He also recognized country legends Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard, as well as Emerson Lake and Palmer, and surf rock icon Dick Dale. Other suggestions included The Hives, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Breeders, and Captain Beefheart.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has faced criticism for not including heavier music styles and underground artists. White addressed this issue by advocating for musicians whose work has been overlooked by the selection committee. He encouraged young artists to get creative and passionate about their music. “Get your hands dirty and drop the screens,” he said. “Get obsessed with something. We all want to share in what you might create.”

Other acts on White’s list included The Gun Club, Love and Arthur Lee, The Flat Duo Jets, Dexter Romweber, and Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow. Fans can stream the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony to catch all the highlights.
