Deryck Whibley Finishes Acoustic Album Featuring Sum 41 Songs, Explores Tour Options

Deryck Whibley has just finished recording an acoustic album featuring Sum 41 songs. He’s considering taking these stripped-down tracks on the road. The former Sum 41 frontman shared this exciting news during an interview at the Vans Warped Tour in Orlando.

“I’d like to do an acoustic tour of Sum 41 songs,” Whibley said. He mentioned that he has an acoustic record that might be released soon, but there are currently no solid plans for a tour or an official release. Despite this, he continues to create music and plays guitar every day.

“I have no plans or I don’t know what I’m gonna do with music, but I play guitar every day, I write music every day,” he explained. Whibley has a collection of songs waiting to be shared, and he’s eager to do something with them in the future.

As the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Sum 41, Whibley helped the band sell over 15 million records. They’ve also received a GRAMMY nomination, two Juno Awards, and a Kerrang! Award. When asked if he might give his new material to other artists, he said he prefers to keep his songs for himself. “I’m a very selfish writer,” he admitted. “When I write something I like, it’s hard to give it away.”

In addition to music, the 45-year-old has been busy with other projects. He released a memoir titled *Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven And Hell* in 2024, detailing his rise to fame and struggles with addiction. He also launched a clothing line called Walking Disaster. Recently, he made surprise appearances with the Jonas Brothers and Avril Lavigne at their shows. Fans can look forward to more from Whibley in the future!
