David Byrne Unveils New Single ‘T Shirt’ Co-Written with Brian Eno

David Byrne has released a new single titled “T Shirt,” co-written with Brian Eno. The track came out on November 18 through Matador Records and features a visualizer showcasing various slogan T-shirts. Dev Hynes from Blood Orange plays piano on the song. Interestingly, “T Shirt” is not part of Byrne’s latest album, *Who Is the Sky?*, which was released in September. However, Byrne has performed the song at nearly every show during his current tour.

The release is accompanied by a video that displays T-shirts with powerful messages like “Fight Today For a Better Tomorrow,” “Embrace Differences,” and “Human Rights Are Not Optional.”

Byrne and Eno have a long history of collaboration, dating back to 1978 when Eno produced the Talking Heads album *More Songs About Buildings and Food*. They worked together again on *Fear of Music* in 1979 and *Remain in Light* in 1980. The duo also released a joint album, *My Life in the Bush of Ghosts*, in 1981 and reunited in 2008 for *Everything That Happens Will Happen Today*.

Reflecting on their early days, Byrne shared, “When [Talking Heads] were starting out, we were big fans of the Velvet Underground. John Cale and Lou Reed came to see us at CBGB. John introduced us to Brian Eno on our first trip to London, and that proved to be a big deal for us.”

Byrne is nearing the end of his North American tour, with his next show tonight at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The tour wraps up on December 6 in Miami, but he’ll be back on the road starting January 14 in Auckland, New Zealand, with stops in Australia and Europe before concluding in Paris on March 19, 2026.
