Pearl Jam is one of the last original grunge bands still touring and releasing new music. It’s a real treat to have Eddie Vedder and the band on the road, and now there’s a new book to celebrate it. Titled *React/Respond*, this photo book focuses on the band’s Dark Matter tour. It features over 125 images taken by photographer Geoff Whitman, who traveled with the band throughout the entire international tour. Fans will get a unique glimpse into what it’s like to tour with Pearl Jam today.
The Dark Matter tour was launched to promote Pearl Jam’s 2024 album of the same name. It kicked off in May 2024 and wrapped up in May 2025. Whitman started by immersing himself in the crowd, capturing the energy of the shows as fans experienced them. As the tour progressed and his relationship with the band grew, he gained access to backstage moments. Despite this, he kept the fan perspective at the heart of his work, allowing it to guide how he documented each night.
The photographs in *React/Respond* blend the excitement of the crowd with behind-the-scenes moments, creating a genuine record of the Dark Matter tour. The book will be released in April and is available for pre-order. The cover features a vibrant shot of the band from the tour, perfectly capturing the spirit of the experience.
Even decades after the ’90s, it’s exciting to see a band like Pearl Jam still making an impact today. Long live Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam!
