Hayley Williams is set to kick off her first solo tour next year! The tour will support her latest album, *Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party*, which she released in August. In a recent podcast interview, Hayley opened up about her decision to explore her identity outside of Paramore.
“I’m finding myself really nervous because I think I, for my own good, really need to understand who I am outside of the band,” she shared. At 36, she feels it’s important to know herself before turning 40. “I should probably know who I am outside of this entity,” she added.
Hayley confirmed that Paramore is currently on a break, but they are not broken up. She described her role in the band, which includes drummer Zac Farro and guitarist Taylor York, as a ringleader. However, she noted that this responsibility can be challenging. “It’s a huge responsibility to be a mouthpiece for a group of people,” she said. “We’re all very different individuals. I wanna speak for myself.”
Her solo work has also helped her connect with women in a way she hadn’t before. “Growing up, there were just no women around,” she explained.
Hayley has received multiple GRAMMY nominations for her solo projects, and she hinted that her upcoming shows might surprise fans. “They might possibly subvert some people’s expectations of what they think they’re gonna get,” she said.
*Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party* will be her last solo album released under her own name. Stay tuned for tour dates, which haven’t been announced yet!
