Saxon Starts Recording New Album, Scheduled for Release in 2026

Saxon is hard at work on their 25th studio album, set to be released in late 2026. Drummer Nigel Glockler, bassist Tim “Nibbs” Carter, and guitarists Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler have recently recorded their parts, and fans can check out photos from these sessions on the band’s social media.

This upcoming album follows their 24th release, *Hell, Fire and Damnation*, which came out in January 2024 through Silver Lining Music. Frontman Biff Byford shared some insights about the songwriting process back in July. He mentioned, “We’ve started writing the next album. I’m doing lyrics now. I’ve got a lot of ideas from Doug, Nigel, and Nibbs.” Byford is compiling these ideas at home in his studio and hopes to have the new album ready by autumn next year, around September or October.

Saxon formed in Barnsley in 1977 and has sold around 23 million albums worldwide. They are known for classic hits like “Denim And Leather,” “Princess Of The Night,” “Wheels Of Steel,” and “Power And Glory.” In the 1980s, Saxon had eight albums in the UK Top 40, with four reaching the Top 10 and two making it into the Top 5. This decade solidified their status as one of Europe’s biggest metal bands.

Currently, Biff Byford and Paul Quinn are the only original members left. Quinn stopped touring in early 2023, and Brian Tatler joined the band for shows starting mid-2023. Tatler also plays with Diamond Head. Fans can stay tuned for updates on the band and their new album as they continue their musical journey.
