Guitarist Tom Morello has teamed up with Beartooth vocalist Caleb Shomo for a new track titled “Everything Burns.” The song was released on Tuesday as part of Patch 7.4 for Final Fantasy XIV. This collaboration came together quickly, within just 36 hours. Composer Masayoshi Soken, a big fan of Rage Against the Machine, reached out to Morello through Jason Charles Miller, expressing his desire to work with him.
Soken asked Morello if he could create something in that short time frame. Morello was working with producer Tyler Smyth, who then contacted his childhood friend Caleb Shomo to provide vocals. Shomo recalled receiving a call from Smyth early in the morning, asking if he could sing on the track right away. After a quick coffee and tossing out his trash, Shomo jumped into recording.
“Everything Burns” is featured in the finale of the Arcadion raid series and is available for streaming on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Morello described the song as both a warning and a call to action, reflecting the challenges of our times. He believes it resonates with people living in 2025.
Shomo called the experience rare and exciting, saying he gave it his all and ended up with something truly special. The track was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Tyler Smyth, with additional production from Jon Eberhard and engineering by Joey Doherty.
“Everything Burns” will also be part of Morello’s upcoming solo album, which includes previously released singles. Beartooth is set to tour North America with Bad Omens and President starting in February 2026. Fans can grab tickets soon!
