John Lydon, known as Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols, recently shared that he didn’t hear from his former bandmates after the passing of his wife, Nora Forster, in 2023. “I expected some kind of connection when Nora died, but nothing,” he said.
Lydon has been estranged from the other members of the Sex Pistols—guitarist Steve Jones, bassist Glen Matlock, and drummer Paul Cook—for a while now. The band has reformed with Frank Carter as the new lead singer. Lydon has been vocal about his feelings, calling the current version of the Pistols “karaoke” and expressing that he has no desire to join them again.
“I still have a very great fondness for the chaps from that period,” Lydon stated. “What they evolved — or devolved — into since is another consequence.”
Currently, Lydon is on tour in the U.K. with his band, Public Image Ltd. Meanwhile, the Frank Carter-led Sex Pistols are set to kick off a European tour in June. Fans of both bands are eager to see what’s next for these iconic musicians.
