BABYMETAL has released a re-recorded version of their hit song “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!” on January 5. This new version celebrates the band’s 15th anniversary. MOMOMETAL added death growls to the track, giving it a fresh twist. The updated song, titled “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! (15th Night Ver.),” keeps the fast pace and thrash energy of the original 2012 single while delivering a heavier sound with new vocals.
Accompanying the release is a music video that features the trio headbanging in an arcade and on the streets. Since forming in 2011, BABYMETAL has blended pop and metal, creating a unique sound over the years. In a recent interview, MOAMETAL reflected on their journey, saying, “Now that I think about these 15 years… I really put in so much effort and worked so hard.” She admitted there were times she wanted to give up, but the thought of the band falling apart kept her motivated. “SU-METAL loves singing so much. I wanted to save her place to sing,” she added.
This release marks their first new music since last year’s METAL FORTH album. The band toured North America twice to support that record.
To celebrate their anniversary, an ultra-limited 15th-anniversary CD will be available on January 7 at the BABYMETAL FIRST EVER POP-UP IN TOKYO event at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA. Fans can also find the CD at merchandise booths during the LEGEND — METAL FORTH shows on January 10 and 11 at Saitama Super Arena.
Purchasing the CD gives fans a chance to receive one of three random postcards featuring costumes from the music video. Among these postcards, there is a rare THE CHOSEN 15 card, with only 15 copies available worldwide.
