Spotify Announces Price Hike for App Subscribers

Spotify is updating its subscription prices, and Premium users can expect an email about the changes in the coming month. This is the third price increase for U.S. subscribers in the last four years. After raising prices in the U.K. and Switzerland last fall, many anticipated a similar move for the U.S. market.

Starting in February, the monthly subscription for Premium users will rise from $11.99 to $12.99. Premium subscribers enjoy extra benefits compared to other plans. Spotify stated, “Occasional updates to pricing across our markets reflect the value that Spotify delivers, enabling us to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists.”

In addition to the Premium plan, the Duo plan will increase from $16.99 to $18.99 per month, while the Family plan will go up from $19.99 to $21.99. Student plans will also see a rise, changing from $5.99 to $6.99 per month.

The last price hike for U.S. Spotify users was in June 2024. The first increase since the service launched in the U.S. in 2011 happened in July 2023. Back then, the individual plan was just $9.99 a month.

For more details about these pricing updates, keep an eye on your email for notifications from Spotify. Stay tuned for more music news, concert updates, and everything you love about your favorite artists!
