Cantina la Martina is back in Philadelphia for the fourth annual La Tamalada on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 101 E. Erie Avenue. This family-friendly festival celebrates tamales and Mexican culture, turning North Philly into a tasty destination for the day.
Local street vendors will showcase their unique tamales, including Karla Torres and Ernesto Ventura from La Ingrata, Esteban Morales, and the team from Cantina la Martina. Other vendors include Elvia Zavala of Mija Mexican Table, Carolina López of Delicias Carolina, Pablo E. Alicea, and Ana Montañez of Chef Ana’s Kitchen. Tamales will be available for $6 each, and food and drinks will be pay-as-you-go. Some vendors may only accept cash, so bring some along.
In addition to tamales, enjoy drinks like atole, champurrado, tepache, and café de olla from Cantina la Martina. At 2:00 PM, a friendly tamale competition will heat things up as vendors compete for top honors. DJ Cali Rumba will keep the vibe lively all afternoon.
The event is hosted by The Lighthouse, a non-profit dedicated to supporting families through educational and cultural programs. Their outdoor space is perfect for families, with on-site parking for $10 and plenty of activities like games, artisan vendors, hayrides, and a petting zoo.
La Tamalada also celebrates La Candelaria, a Mexican tradition marking the end of the holiday season. This event is a great way to connect with the community and enjoy delicious food. “It’s going to be a fun, delicious, family-friendly day!” said Mariangeli Alicea Saez, co-owner of Cantina la Martina. Don’t miss it!
