Tony Iommi, the legendary guitarist of Black Sabbath, has made a big impact in his hometown of Birmingham, England, by helping raise funds for a cancer charity. He donated a guitar to the Heartlands Hospital Charity, which helped raise over $60,000 for their campaign to build a new hematology and oncology center at the hospital. The lucky winner of the guitar lives in the U.S.
Charlotte Schofield, the director of fundraising for Heartlands Hospital Charity, expressed her gratitude to Iommi for his “generosity and support.” She said, “Thanks to this incredible donation, we are well on our way to our fundraising goal of £150,000 (about $170,000) and creating a beautiful space for patients to be comfortable while they receive their treatment.”
Iommi, now 77, is a cancer survivor himself. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2012 but announced he was cancer-free in August 2016. His efforts not only support a great cause but also inspire many with his personal journey. Rock on, Tony!
