Aerosmith set to re-release their debut self-titled album

Aerosmith is celebrating their self-titled debut album with a special release. On March 20, they will launch Aerosmith (Legendary Edition), which is being called the “definitive version” of their 1973 album.

This new edition will come in several formats. The limited-edition five-LP Aerosmith (Legendary Collector’s Edition) features the original album remastered on clear vinyl, along with a 2024 Album Mix on translucent red vinyl. It also includes a live performance from 1973 at Boston’s Paul’s Mall on black vinyl, plus previously unreleased studio tracks and a unique UV cloud-effect 12-inch vinyl with both the 2024 remaster and mix of “Dream On.”

Fans will also get a hardcover book filled with never-before-seen photos and new interviews with band members Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer. There are contributions from other artists too, including Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Dolly Parton, and Guns N’ Roses’ Slash.

Aerosmith (Legendary Edition) will also be available as four-LP and three-CD sets, as well as digitally and as single LPs in black and translucent red, and single CDs. All formats are available for preorder now. Preordering will give fans an instant download of the track “Mama Kin (2024 Mix).”

Originally released in January 1973, Aerosmith didn’t make a big splash at first but eventually peaked at #21 in 1976. The album features the classic “Dream On,” which became a hit after its rerelease in December 1975.
