Skid Row Seeks New Lead Singer Nearly Two Years After Erik Grönwall’s Departure

Skid Row is getting closer to finding a new lead singer. The band plans to make a big announcement in the coming weeks. Guitarist Scotti Hill shared some details about what’s next. “In about a week, we’re going to make an announcement for a real push. We’re going to find the right person for the job and get back out there,” Hill said.

The band has been without a permanent singer since March 2024, when Erik Grönwall left due to health issues related to his battle with leukemia. Grönwall, a 38-year-old Swedish musician, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021.

Bassist Rachel Bolan mentioned on the Rockstrap podcast that they have some potential candidates in mind. “We have a couple of guys on our radar that we’re pretty excited about. Hopefully, before the end of the year, we’ll be back out on the road,” Bolan said.

Finding the right fit isn’t easy. Bolan explained that all four band members need to agree on the new singer. “We’re going through each person and deciding if they’re the right fit. We need to get in a room with them and see how it goes,” he said.

Hill emphasized the importance of chemistry. “It’s not an easy job. The songs are really hard to sing. We get along great as a band, and we need someone who can fit into our family,” he said.

Bolan added that personality is key. “The main thing is being a good hang,” he noted. Several singers have tried out, but the band is taking their time to make the right choice.

Erik Grönwall was the fourth frontman since Sebastian Bach left in 1996. Skid Row has had a few singers over the years, including Johnny Solinger, Tony Harnell, and ZP Theart. Fans are eager to see who will take the stage next!
