Lily Cornell Silver, the eldest daughter of the late Chris Cornell, has launched a new band called Josie on the Rocks. In an Instagram post, Lily revealed that she started the band, where she sings, five years ago. She shared, “Being in this band was the happiest part of my life.”
Lily explained that she kept the band private because it brought her so much joy. She was worried about outside expectations and scrutiny. “Playing with these boys pulled me out of an awful place and gave me a sense of purpose I’d never felt before,” she wrote.
Tragically, the band’s drummer, Graham Derzon-Supplee, passed away, which deeply affected Lily. “Then Graham died, and it seemed like the most senseless thing in the world,” she said. It wasn’t until the last year that the remaining band members began discussing releasing music to honor Graham’s memory.
Now, Josie on the Rocks is ready to make their debut with two new songs: “Not You” and “Super Sonic.” The song “Not You” comes with a music video that fans can check out on YouTube.
Lily is the daughter of Chris Cornell and his first wife, Susan Silver. He also had two children with his second wife, Vicky Cornell: daughter Toni and son Christopher. Recently, Lily introduced Soundgarden’s performance at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
