Keith Urban & Glorious Sons Rock the Linc at the NHL Stadium Series

The NHL held its annual Stadium Series on Saturday night at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA. The game pitted Pennsylvania rivals Pittsburgh Penguins against the home town Philadelphia Flyers.  The game was in jeopardy of being play all week because of the chance of torrential rains in the forecast but the NHL decided to go ahead and play the game as scheduled at 8PM est.  With light rain falling almost throughout the game, the Flyers and Penguins took to the ice and ended the first period in a 1-1 tie.

During the first intermission, Keith Urban performed 3 songs: ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color,’ ‘Never Comin Down’ (off his latest album Graffiti U) and ‘Wasted Time.’  Keith and his band had great energy during the short 3 song set which included some fireworks and plenty of pyro.

At the end of the second period the Penguins had a 2-1 lead over the Flyers but some more excitement from the Canadian rock band Glorious Sons was about to go down.  With just a 2 song set Glorious Sons energized the crowd, most of whom stayed in their seats during the intermission, with their songs ‘Kill the Lights’ and ‘S.O.S.’  Just like with Keith Urban’s performance there was plenty of pyro and fireworks to pump up the fans.  Glorious Sons won a lot more fans in Philly during their short but exhilarating performance.

To add more  excitement to the night, the home town Flyers scored to tie the game with just 2 seconds to go in the 3rd period, which sent the game to overtime.  About 2 minutes into OT, the Flyers captain Claude Giroux scored to send the rain soaked Flyers fans home in a great mood.
