UMe/Mercury and Anthem Records have released a 40th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition of Rush’s 1984 album, *Grace Under Pressure*, on March 13. This special edition comes in five versions, each featuring a remastered version of the original album, a new remix by Terry Brown, and the complete concert from Toronto on September 21, 1984.
The limited-edition box set includes four CDs and one Blu-ray, along with a 52-page hardcover book. The first CD contains the original 1984 stereo mix, remastered from the analog master tapes by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios. The second CD features Brown’s new stereo mix, created from the original studio multitracks. Brown shared, “I suggested it to Alex and Ged by saying, ‘Let me do a couple of tunes. If you love it, we can move forward.’ As it turned out, they did love it.”
The third and fourth CDs present the complete setlist from Maple Leaf Gardens, newly mixed from the original multitrack audio masters. Unlike the 1986 home video release, which had only 12 tracks, this edition includes all 20 songs from the show.
The Blu-ray offers the concert video in HD, with audio options in 48kHz/24-bit Dolby Atmos, 96kHz/24-bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1, and 96kHz/24-bit PCM stereo. Producer Richard Chycki mixed the new surround sound versions.
*Grace Under Pressure* was released in April 1984 as Rush’s tenth studio album. It was the first without longtime producer Terry Brown, with Peter Henderson co-producing. Geddy Lee wrote new liner notes for the package, and Hugh Syme created new illustrations for each song. The box set also includes a custom acrylic LED light-up display, a replica tour book, concert ticket, backstage pass, three band photo lithographs, and a poster.
The 5-LP vinyl edition was cut at Abbey Road Studios and pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Fans can pre-order it now.
