Judas Priest is the focus of a new documentary titled *The Ballad of Judas Priest*, which is set to premiere in Canada at the 2026 Hot Docs Festival. The film features interviews with band members and includes never-before-seen clips from their personal archives. It also showcases appearances from other metal legends like Ozzy Osbourne, Jack Black, and members of Metallica.
Co-directed by Sam Dunn and Tom Morello, the documentary had its world premiere in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, where Morello, Dunn, and Judas Priest’s lead vocalist Rob Halford were present.
The film highlights the impact of heavy metal music, with Halford stating, “Heavy metal music is the music that made me love music. Judas Priest are really the creators of heavy metal, alongside Black Sabbath. They’ve built a community that is metal.”
The Hot Docs Festival will take place in Toronto from April 23 to May 3, showcasing films from around the globe. For those interested, ticket information and the full lineup of films will be available soon.
It’s amazing to see a band like Judas Priest still rocking after more than fifty years. Icons like Halford may be getting older, but their new music and live performances show they still have the energy and passion. This documentary offers fans a closer look at what has kept the band together and moving forward for all these years.
