Linkin Park shattered the attendance record at Spark Arena in Auckland on March 18, drawing a crowd of 12,736 fans. This was the band’s first show in New Zealand since 2013, and it marked a special moment as they debuted with new lead vocalist Emily Armstrong, who joined the band in 2024. The record-breaking turnout was made possible by a venue capacity increase two years ago, allowing more fans to join the experience.
During the concert, Mike Shinoda humorously commented on the achievement, saying, “I don’t know what that means.” This performance was particularly emotional, as it was the first since the passing of founding lead vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017. His loss deeply affected fans, who remember his struggles with anxiety and self-doubt through his powerful lyrics and voice.
The band delivered an impressive 28-song setlist, featuring classics like “Numb” alongside new tracks. Armstrong showcased her vocal strength right from the start with a fierce scream. Shinoda engaged with the audience throughout the night, sharing a heartfelt moment with a fan facing surgery and giving them his hat for good luck. He also recognized fans in the corner blocks, calling them “guests of honor in our most special section.”
Doors opened at 6:30 p.m., with Vana performing at 7:30 before Linkin Park took the stage at 8:45. The band has enjoyed a strong connection with New Zealand, boasting seven No. 1 albums and appealing to fans of various genres, including electronica, pop, and hip-hop. The From Zero World Tour will continue after the Auckland stop, and tickets are available now.
