Portugal. The Man has just dropped a new song called “Phoenix,” teaming up with popular DJ Marshmello. Frontman John Gourley shared his excitement, saying, “Growing up in Alaska as the son of dog mushers, music never felt like a reachable world. I can’t believe I get to work with someone like Marshmello.” He described the process of making “Phoenix” as fun and easy, with no egos involved. “We just chased the feeling until it stuck,” he added.
The song explores the theme of overcoming challenges and coming back stronger. Gourley expressed gratitude for the trust and energy Marshmello brought to the project.
Marshmello is known for collaborating with various artists, including Bastille and CHVRCHES. Portugal. The Man’s latest album, SHISH, was released in 2025 and features the single “Tanana.”
