Maynard James Keenan Shows Support for Ousted General Randy George
Maynard James Keenan has expressed his support for General Randy George, who is retiring as the Army Chief of Staff after just three years in his four-year term. Keenan shared his connection to George in an Instagram post, revealing that they attended West Point Prep together and were teammates on the cross country team.
In his post, Keenan reflected on his time at West Point Prep, saying he excelled academically but chose to follow his creative passions instead of pursuing a military career. He recalled how many people thought it was a mistake when he declined his appointment to West Point, but a few, including George, were supportive of his decision.
Keenan wrote, “I can’t even imagine how disappointed and upset he must feel for having been ‘asked’ to retire early.” He added, “So I’m just here to return that favor of support. We’re here for you, Randy. Might be time for a beer or three. See you soon.”
Keenan’s message highlights the bond between the two men and shows that even in tough times, friends stand by each other. Fans of both Keenan and George can appreciate this heartfelt gesture.
