A Beer Born in the Birthplace of America: Inside the 2026 CBC Commemorative Brew

As Philadelphia gears up for America’s 250th anniversary, the city’s brewing history is in the spotlight. The Brewers Association has unveiled the official beer for the 2026 Craft Brewers Conference® & BrewExpo America® (CBC®), and it’s being brewed right in the heart of American independence. Named “Of the Brewers. By the Brewers. For the Brewers.”, this 4.7% ABV pale lager is a true collaboration across the brewing industry.

Yards Brewing Company in Northern Liberties is crafting this special beer, which is currently in production ahead of the CBC, set to take place from April 20–22, 2026, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This will be the first time the event returns to Philadelphia since 2016. The commemorative beer celebrates the craft brewing movement and Philadelphia’s key role in American history, with over 10,000 attendees expected.

The beer is a single malt, single hop (SMaSH) lager, designed to highlight quality ingredients and technical skill. It uses Spalter Select hops for herbal and grassy aromas, paired with Bestmalz Heidelberg Malt. The result is a crisp, easy-drinking lager meant for brewers to enjoy together.

This project showcases collaboration throughout the brewing supply chain. Hart Print is providing digitally printed cans, Zuckerman Honickman is supplying can ends, and The Royal Group is donating trays. Hach is ensuring quality with dissolved oxygen testing.

The can design pays homage to Philadelphia’s revolutionary printing history, featuring bold artwork and nods to Benjamin Franklin.

All registered CBC attendees will receive a can during the conference. For everyone else, a limited release will be available at Yards Brewing Company, with draft pours during CBC week. This beer is not just a tribute; it’s a celebration of community.
