This Day in Rock History: April 10 

April 10 has played a significant role in shaping the rock music genre we love. From the birth of famous musicians to the release of iconic songs, this date is filled with important moments in rock history. Here’s a look at some key events that took place on this day.

1976: Peter Frampton released what would become one of the best-selling albums ever, *Frampton Comes Alive!*, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It stayed at the top for 10 weeks and remained on the chart for nearly two years.

1982: Iron Maiden achieved their first UK No. 1 album with *The Number of The Beast*, marking a significant milestone in their career.

Culturally, April 10 has also seen major events. In 1956, Leo Fender patented the iconic Stratocaster electric guitar, a key instrument in rock ‘n’ roll. Then in 1970, Paul McCartney announced he was leaving The Beatles, sharing his decision alongside his debut solo album.

The 1980s brought more memorable recordings. In 1970, Elton John released his self-titled second album, featuring the hit “Your Song.” 1978 saw Jethro Tull release *Heavy Horses*, which peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard 200.

In 1981, The Clash dropped “The Magnificent Seven,” blending rock with hip-hop influences. 1985 marked the start of Madonna’s first tour, *The Virgin Tour*, with the Beastie Boys opening.

1989 brought The Cult’s successful album *Sonic Temple*, which peaked at No. 10. Finally, in 1999, a tribute concert called Concert for Linda took place at the Royal Albert Hall, celebrating music in a heartfelt way.
