Alabama Shakes have just released a new single titled “American Dream.” Frontwoman Brittany Howard describes the song as a reflection of life in 2026. She shares her thoughts on the current struggles, saying, “I look around and wonder how we got to a place where there’s so much strain and so little support. It shouldn’t be impossible to take off work to take your child to the doctor—that’s actually insane.” Howard hopes that one day listeners will look back and say, “Yeah, s* was crazy back then, but we made it through.”
“American Dream” is the second new song from Alabama Shakes since their reunion in late 2024 after a six-year break. Their first new track, “Another Life,” came out in 2025. The band’s last album, Sound & Color, was released in 2015.
To celebrate their new music, Alabama Shakes will kick off a U.S. tour on April 16 in Richmond, Virginia. Fans are excited to see what the band has in store as they hit the road again.
