Shinedown Discusses Radio Play, Streaming, Carrie Underwood, and Their Upcoming Album EI8HT

Shinedown recently visited 105.7 The Point while preparing for their upcoming tour in St. Louis. Brent Smith and Zach Myers shared their thoughts on radio, streaming, songwriting, and even Carrie Underwood. They stopped by to chat with Donny Fandango about their new album, EI8HT, which features 18 tracks and took over a year and a half to complete.

During the interview, Brent and Zach discussed their tour production setup at Gateway Studios in St. Louis. They emphasized the importance of albums and how radio continues to play a crucial role in helping rock bands grow. Brent made a memorable statement: “If you want to get your music heard, streaming is fine. But if you want to have a career, go to radio.” This perspective comes from their own experience of building a career through touring and rock radio support.

The conversation also touched on several topics, including rehearsing the tour production in Missouri, their new album EI8HT, Carrie Underwood introducing them at the Grand Ole Opry, and their performance on American Idol. They talked about Eric Bass producing their records and how modern albums can sometimes sound overly polished. Additionally, they mentioned bringing arena-level pyro to The Factory in Chesterfield on September 7 and the enthusiastic commitment of Sleep Token fans.

Brent and Zach’s passion for music, touring, and the culture surrounding it shines through in the interview. They are clearly excited about their upcoming performance and ready to bring the heat to The Factory. Don’t miss Shinedown live on September 7th. Get your tickets now!
