Joe Newman, the frontman of alt-J, has dropped a new song titled “Mr. Alligator” under his solo project, JJerome87. He describes the track as “The path of a Preacher. The rise of a Predator.” The song tells the story of a grifter who uses coercive control and violence, showing a cold indifference to others.
“Mr. Alligator” will be featured on JJerome87’s debut album, The Canyon. This album also includes previously released tracks like “Brush Me Like a Horse” and “Track and Field.” It was initially available only on Newman’s website but will be widely released on June 26.
Newman is set to perform at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on October 3. Alt-J’s latest album, The Dream, came out in 2022.
