The Strokes have announced a special hometown show in New York City. Julian Casablancas and the band will perform at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens on October 2. This comes after their U.S. tour schedule, released in April, did not include a stop in NYC.

The Strokes’ tour kicks off this Friday at Bonnaroo, where they will promote their new album, Reality Awaits, set to release on June 26. However, fans should note that guitarist Nick Valensi will not be on stage for these shows, as he is taking a temporary break from touring.
