Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace recently looked back on the 20th anniversary of their album “One-X.” He shared that the band moved to Los Angeles for about two months to record the album. “It was an amazing experience just being in LA and having the record label cover everything,” he said. Living in a new city and creating music together was a great experience for the band.
“One-X” followed their successful 2003 debut, which featured hits like “I Hate Everything About You” and “Just Like You.” Instead of facing a sophomore slump, “One-X” debuted at a career-high #5 on the Billboard 200. It produced popular singles such as “Animal I Have Become,” “Pain,” “Never Too Late,” and “Riot,” eventually earning quintuple-Platinum certification from the RIAA. Gontier expressed that the album’s success and the positive response from fans were the highlights of the experience.
After “One-X,” Three Days Grace released “Life Starts Now” in 2009 and “Transit of Venus” in 2012. Gontier left the band in 2013, and they brought in Matt Walst, the brother of bassist Brad Walst. The band then released three more albums: “Human” in 2015, “Outsider” in 2018, and “Explosions” in 2022. Gontier rejoined Three Days Grace in 2024, creating a unique two-singer lineup with Walst. Their first album together, titled “Alienation,” was released in 2025.
