The Smashing Pumpkins are set to perform at the America250 concert in Los Angeles, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The event, called America’s Block Party, will take place on July 4 at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Joining them on stage will be Chris Stapleton and host Queen Latifah.
Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin expressed excitement about the performance, saying, “Playing the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 4 for America’s 250th is a rare kind of moment. We’ve always believed in the power of music to bring people together and create a meaningful celebration.”
Tickets go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT for $17.76. Proceeds will support Feeding America, and 5,000 free tickets will be given to first responders, veterans, and active-duty service members. For more details, check out America250.org.
America250 is a national organization created by Congress in 2016 to lead the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Meanwhile, another group, Freedom 250, had announced a concert series in Washington, D.C., for the same occasion, but several artists, including Bret Michaels, Martina McBride, and The Commodores, have dropped out.
