She questions, “When you can’t even tell what’s real, what’s true, like, who will you follow?” She believes it’s becoming harder to agree on what is true, which can be dangerous. Lee describes Sanctuary as a place of truth, where people can connect face-to-face, without filters or screens.
The song emphasizes the importance of human connection. Lee explains, “It’s about breaking through the madness and the lies and finding the simple truth of just human connection again.” Sanctuary is available now, and Evanescence is currently on tour, with their next show in Charlotte, North Carolina, this Thursday.
