Sombr has released a new song and video called “My Body Isn’t Ready.” He says on Instagram the song can mean different things to different people. It can be a metaphor. Or it can describe how he has felt about his own body his whole life. He wrote it to let others who struggle know they are not alone. “You are beautiful, and I love you,” he adds.
The song includes the lines: “I like you, but my body isn’t ready / I want you, but the mirror won’t let me / I try to be the person you’re expecting / But I’m not ready, I’m not ready.”
The video shows Sombr at a daytime party at a fancy LA mansion. He looks goth and out of place. A magician reveals a card that says, “You don’t belong here,” and people laugh. Josh Heuston plays a pretentious sculptor who joins the mockery. Inde Navarrette watches Sombr from afar. Later, Sombr covers himself in papier-mâché and looks like a sculpture. He is loaded into a limo with others, then thrown out. Inde gets out too and removes the papier-mâché. The two end the night together.
Sombr also performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week. He thanks Inde Navarrette and Josh Heuston for appearing in the video.
