Say Anything and Wavves have teamed up for a new album called Cherry Soda. It arrives Sept. 18.
The first single, “Deathx1k,” is out now with a claymation video on YouTube.
Say Anything frontman Max Bemis says the bands wrote around each other’s styles. He calls the process a push for both writers — Bemis got more Wavves-like, and Wavves’ Nathan Williams leaned into emo. Bemis adds that they brought out unexpected sides of one another and that Williams is actually a sweet, sensitive guy despite some darker-sounding lyrics.
