Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward has posted a health update. The 78-year-old says he now needs a wheelchair in public places and airports. He adds he can still walk, but not far without resting.
Ward says he is still a drummer and can play well for his age. He says his love for music and drumming is as strong as ever. If fans see him in a wheelchair, he asks them to know he’s just using it to get around. He is not retiring, not giving up, and not seriously ill, he writes. “I’m OK,” he says. “Much love to you all and I’ll keep rocking until I’m dead.”
Ward reunited with Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler in 2025 for the Back to the Beginning concert. That show was the original lineup’s final live performance. Ozzy died a little more than two weeks later at 76.
