Shinedown bassist Eric Bass is stepping away from the band’s upcoming tour to focus on his mental health. In a Facebook video, Bass said he had “a pretty serious mental health crash” a few weeks ago and doesn’t feel it’s wise to tour right now.
He is currently in treatment and says he’s feeling better, but he doesn’t have a timeline for returning. “Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later,” he said, adding that he wants to make sure he’s safe.
Josh Sturm and Zack Mack will fill in for Bass while he’s out. The tour starts Saturday in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and supports Shinedown’s new album, EI8HT. Fans have sent support and the band has been open about mental health, which Bass cited when explaining his decision.
